Kesäkulkurit brings dance to the people!

This June, a sprinkle of magic and some peculiar croaking sounds will echo across Southwest Finland and Satakunta as the Kesäkulkurit roll into town!

Dance artists Maiju Tiuraniemi and Veera Laine present Kesäkulkurit ja kummallinen kurnutus (“The Summer Wanderers and the Strange Croaking”), a performance where the familiar turns strange and everyday life gently slips out of place. Audiences can expect dance-filled fantasy, curious characters, and surprising moments suitable for all ages — from babies to grandparents.

Kesäkulkurit makes dance art accessible by bringing it directly to places where people already gather: market squares, libraries, parks, and public events. Experience what it looks like when your familiar surroundings transform, for a moment, into a fantasy adventure!

The performance lasts approximately fifteen minutes. Afterwards, audiences may take part in a movement workshop. The performances are free of charge, and no advance registration is required.

Kesäkulkurit is a dance touring and audience outreach concept created by Läntinen tanssin aluekeskus and has been running for more than fifteen years. The aim of the tour is to increase awareness, accessibility, and availability of dance. Municipalities in the region can invite Kesäkulkurit to visit for one or several days. The combined performance and workshop package can be organized for local residents in places such as market squares, summer events, libraries, daycare centres, service homes, or even children’s summer camps.
